TBD CLASS

(Room 205, 2nd Floor)

This group is about developing a deeper understanding of their beliefs, the Bible, and who they are as Methodist Christians. You could call it a "beginners" study of sorts. The group includes adults (singles and couples) in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, who like to study, pray and socialize together. Generally they follow study tracks that focus on a specific book of the Bible, person, or topic over a 6-10 week period, with each discussion led by a volunteer member(s) of the group. They can be lively, fun, sometimes loud, occasionally serve breakfast, and try to spend time together socially outside of church. Come as you are; new to the church, new to Bible study, already an expert looking for a new perspective, or just interested in fellowship. All are welcome!

Men's Ministry

The Riverside Park United Methodist Men (UMM) is a group of men whose mission is to support the spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church and to help them to mature as disciples as they encourage spiritual formation in others.

When We Meet:    6pm on the 2nd Tuesday of odd months (January, March, May, July, September, November)

9am on the 2nd Saturday of even months (February, April, June, August, October, December)

For Tuesday meetings, the men bring something for the grill and a side dish to share.  For Saturday meetings, breakfast is served.  All meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall and are led by president Kevin Round.  Meetings include a devotional, short business meeting, fellowship and occasionally a guest speaker.

The UMM has several annual events that support the ministries and people of Riverside Park UMC and its community:

  • In February, the UMM help the youth group with their Valentine’s Dinner Fundraiser.
  • On Palm Sunday, the UMM host the Lay Appreciation Dinner.  This event is held after the Palm Sunday Unity Service in the Fellowship Hall.
  • The UMM on behalf of the congregation express appreciation and gratitude to the laity (or volunteers) of the church.  One person who has shown outstanding Christian leadership and discipleship with their time and talent is recognized with an award.
  • In October, the UMM will host an annual Golf Tournament which raises money for local missions.
  • In the fall, the UMM sponsor a church-wide event to clean up neighboring Five Points.

In 2015, 26 church members showed up early on a Saturday morning and collected many bags of trash around the shops and businesses in the Five Points district.
